1 question

The plums I buy are regularly disappointing. They are dry, sometimes almost woody at the core and I wonder who (randomly) checks incoming goods and how. Surely the inspectors should have the same experience as me? I would like to use them in fruit salads, but have been replacing them with dark grapes or pomegranate seeds for a while now.

Hello berater4rundum, thank you for your contribution. We're sorry that the plums didn't convince you recently and that you had to replace them in the fruit salad! If fruit appears dry and juiceless, there can be various reasons for this. As a rule, these are disorders that occur during the growth phase of the fruit. If there is an acute shortage of water, the tree begins to suck the water from the growing fruit back into the trunk and branches. As a result, the quality suffers and such fruit may appear dry and juiceless. Incorrect storage and transportation temperatures can also affect the juice content. Furthermore, the harvest is usually not as juicy at the end of the season. To avoid this, we require our suppliers to carry out regular outgoing goods inspections. We also carry out incoming goods inspections in our distribution centers and follow-up inspections in our branches. Unfortunately, a 100% inspection is not possible, as fluctuations in the quality of individual fruits can occur in the delivery batches. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
