Hello miakatze05
After internal consultation with the specialist department, we can tell you that it is unfortunately raining a lot at the moment, which means that the lettuce has to be washed a lot because of all the dirt. If the lettuce is then not spun enough, this residual moisture can occur - but too much spinning and drying is not good for the lettuce either.
We thank you for this valuable tip and will pass it on to the goods receiving department for checking and to the supplier.

Dear migros, since you give us no choice but to buy lettuce and vegetables packaged in plastic and mold. Finally change your sales pitch. Blaming us but offering us no other option than to buy vegetables in plastic is not the responsibility of the buyers but clearly yours and by that I mean all the oligopolies in our Swiss economy. Change something... It can't go on like this. You are responsible for the mountain of waste from vegetables, fruit, ect and above all from plastic that harms us and the environment. what alternatives are there here?

Hello Bingespannt, thank you for your question. From a purely ecological point of view, it doesn't usually make sense to do without packaging altogether, as it provides the best possible protection for products during transportation and against spoilage. It is therefore not pointless "waste", as is often assumed, but performs important functions.
However, the tasks of good packaging are much more varied. It should...
- Protect the product (longer shelf life and hygiene).
- Provide information (origin, ingredients, price, best-before date, etc. - at Migros, this should be in three languages where possible).
- be easy to transport and stack (so that we need as few trucks as possible for transportation).
- be as environmentally friendly and recyclable as possible.
So that we know what impact our packaging has on the environment, we have drawn up life cycle assessments. These take into account the effects from the extraction of raw materials to the disposal of the packaging. They show that packaging contributes very little (around 2 to 5 %) to the environmental impact over the product life cycle - the product itself has the greatest impact. A product spoiled due to a lack of packaging therefore has a much greater impact on the environment than its packaging.
The use of recycled material is promising: many trays used to protect berries and other sensitive products in the fruit and vegetable department now contain up to 80% recycled PET. This saves on new material. It should be noted that Migros avoids unnecessary packaging in its own interest. After all, packaging is always a cost factor. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello M-infoteam I must admit I am surprised by your answer. 1, to protect the product? it's kind of ridiculous. why do many others do it without? 2, that the packaging "only" contributes 2-5% of the environmental impact is not correct. They haven't taken into account the so-called 80% recycling of the pet. how many resources does it take to recycle pet? To collect it, clean it, process it so that it can be used elsewhere and then turn it into bags? Apart from the fact that this does not happen on the spot and has to be driven around! So we are far more than 2-5%!!!!
and apart from the fact that there are studies that claim that recycled pet contains even worse pollutants than non-recycled pet. and we, the consumers, pay for the cost factor anyway. with vegetables and fruit, it's enough to write on the shelf where it comes from (in 3 languages from me) because the packaging only says the country and what kind of vegetable it is.

It would be fairer if you could pay for the salad by weight. Is that not possible? The heads vary in weight, they weigh between 450 and 700 grams.

Hello Kafioma, thank you for sharing your request. We have gladly informed our specialist department of your input. Depending on the season and availability, endive lavata can currently weigh between 400 and 600 g. We strive to offer the most homogeneous caliber possible in our range. Why is it imported from Italy?
Hello Kafioma, thank you for your inquiry. On average, we source 70 percent of our vegetables from Swiss farmers and 30 percent of our fruit comes from here. Of course, we would like to offer even more fresh produce from Switzerland. However, local farmers are unable to meet domestic demand for many products, so we have to rely on imports. We follow the principle of sourcing goods from the geographically closest destination. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

The question is not about the salad. Why are there already over 7700 ratings today?

Hello Kafioma, thank you for your question. This is due to the push message asking you to rate your purchase. This was in the Migros app yesterday. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
