Why was the toothpaste changed to gel? It's not at all practical for our children because the gel can't be spread by the children at all but simply slips off the toothpaste and just goes back and forth and the kids then brush without toothpaste. So we have to look for another toothpaste.... too bad

Hello Schoggimoudi, thank you for your inquiry. We were happy to discuss your request with Elmex. There was a change in 2019 to improve the product and make it more user-friendly. As part of these measures, the manufacturer decided, among other things, to convert the paste into a gel so that it is easier to dose. Does this toothpaste contain titanium dioxide (CI 77891)?

Hello naduli, thank you for your inquiry about Elmex children's toothpaste. This toothpaste contains titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is a white colorant that is used in some toothpastes, among other things. There have been some laboratory tests with this substance in the last 2 years which have raised some doubts about its harmlessness. The French authorities have asked the EU to evaluate this new information. The EFSA (European Food Safety Agency) has recently done this thoroughly. They found that the latest findings do not change the fact that titanium dioxide is a harmless and well-tolerated substance that can continue to be used safely in food. We therefore see no reason to do without this substance. However, there are also some Candida toothpastes without CI 77891. The following Candida toothpastes do not contain titanium dioxide: - Candida Peppermint - Candida Fresh Gel - Candida Halitosis Gel - Candida Cool Herbs Gel - Candida Parodin - Candida White Optic We are considering offering a children's toothpaste without titanium dioxide in the future. On the tube that I bought yesterday in Migros Bülach Süd, it says "0% colorants" in large print on the front and "Children's toothpaste WITH colorants" in small print on the back. How can that be explained?

Hello Carla-Mandy, thank you for your post. The elmex® children's toothpaste was changed some time ago to a clear gel formulation that contains 0% colorants. We regret that this is not correctly stated on the back of the packaging. We have informed the relevant department who are working on the packaging change to rectify the error.
