Hello. I’m a service technician for household appliances, and I’m dealing with the following issue. A customer has been using this Elan detergent for quite some time. Now, with the new formula, his machine is foaming excessively. Water is coming out of the top of the detergent drawer. This doesn’t happen with other detergents. I then tested his detergent on other machines and encountered the same foaming problem. I measured out the dosage myself: 40 ml with a water softener.
And 60 ml without one.
The problem occurs every single time. Do you have any ideas?

We’d also like to share a few additional tips with you:
- Avoid using too much detergent. Follow the recommended dosage and adjust it according to the load size and water hardness. For less than 4 kg of dry laundry, the dosage can be reduced by 15 ml.
-If the laundry has little or no protective coating, this can tend to lead to more foam. In such cases, a lower dosage often helps.
- Clean the machine regularly: at least at 60 degrees Celsius using bleach-containing powder and/or a machine cleaner according to the instructions. If you use only liquid detergent and tend to wash at low temperatures, this can lead to biofilm buildup in the machine, which can, among other things, increase foaming.
-Residues from shampoo or similar products in terry cloth items can also promote foam formation.
