Went into Migros yesterday at lunchtime and saw where the chicken comes from - Thailand!!! I wonder whether the consumer doesn't think about how the cargo gets to Switzerland! Of course, with an environmentally unfriendly, diesel-powered, piled-up cargo ship to the Rhine port in Basel. Then distribution by truck to the Swiss stores. Why does it have to be like this? Doesn't Migros want to be more climate-neutral, or are you just after the big bucks?
Hello trasher007, Migros offers different products in different price categories. In the frozen chicken segment, we offer Swiss raw materials as well as foreign products in order to meet customer requirements. All chicken products that we source from abroad will also comply with the Swiss animal welfare standard by the end of the year. The chicken crispies already comply with these regulations. The product is transported to the port of Rotterdam (main port) by container and ship and then arrives at the distribution center by rail. Distribution takes place with the other goods by truck to the stores. We make sure that capacity utilization is as high as possible and that there are no unnecessary journeys.
