When will this butter be available at Migros Glattzentrum?

Hello isa1965, thank you for your inquiry. According to our check, the butter is still available at the Glatt Center. You can check the availability in your area via this link (https://www.migros.ch/en/product/204241700000). All you have to do is enter your zip code. Hopefully we were able to help you with our answer.Best regards, your M-Infoline team

We do not agree with your answer. Yesterday, Migros Glattzentrum 07.12.2024, this butter was missing again. According to the sales clerk, there is a supply interruption. We are now forced to buy this butter from a retailer who has no problems procuring this product.

How are the cows that produce the milk for this butter fed? Do the cows only receive grass and hay or also so-called concentrated feed? If so, what is the ratio (proportion of concentrates)?

Hello MN55803, thank you for your inquiry. We have discussed your questions with the responsible department. We are happy to provide you with the following information:

The milk is purchased directly from milk producers and various dairy organizations. For the butter, we use milk with the "swissmilk green" label. This stands for the standard of Swiss milk producers in terms of animal welfare, feeding, proximity and health. We are happy to refer you to the website of the Swiss milk producer: www.swissmilk.ch.

In addition, Swiss cows mainly eat roughage such as grass and hay - only a small proportion is concentrated feed. This is also due to the topographical conditions. The proportion between roughage and concentrates depends on the husbandry of the individual animals and the individual farm. Basically, Switzerland is an ideal grassland.

According to the Swiss Milk Producers (SMP), two thirds of the concentrated feed fed are by-products from food production that can be reused through feeding. 92% of the feed for dairy cows comes from Switzerland. We hope this information is helpful for you.

The consistency has changed and is no longer spreadable, even after 20 minutes.

Hi muniweh, thank you for your feedback on our butter, including the photo. We are sorry that your experience with our product was not satisfactory ☹. We would like to follow up on your report. For now, may we ask you to provide us with the best-before date and the batch/lot number? The batch/lot number is usually located next to the best-before date and contains a mixture of letters and numbers. This information enables us to make further clarifications for you. We look forward to your feedback! Best regards, your M-Infoline team

See photo

Hello muniweh, thank you very much for the photo. Unfortunately, it does not show the batch/lot number. May we therefore ask you to send us more pictures? The numbering starting with CH is not the batch. Thank you for your help! Best regards, your M-Infoline team

There is nothing else.

Hi muniweh, thank you very much for your patience, including the photos. We discussed your experience with our specialist department.

We found out that the product is currently made from winter butter. We always use fresh cream for our butter. However, the feeding of the cows has an influence on this. The change from pasture feeding to hay feeding is decisive here. This is why we actually speak of "winter butter" and "summer butter".

Winter butter is lighter and harder because the feed influences the composition of the fat. In winter, the milk contains more saturated fatty acids with a higher melting point. This is why winter butter is indeed harder in consistency and less easy to spread.

We hope this information is helpful for you. Best regards,
your M-Infoline team

Dear Migros... Is this butter or margarine? And if it is butter, why is the product listed as "vegetarian"? LG

This is butter. Vegetarian as it has no animal ingredients. But as it is made from cow's milk, it is not vegan

This is butter.

How can you justify such an increase in butter?

Hello Golf_what-else Due to the current economic situation, fertilizers and animal feed, transport fuels and packaging materials have increased. So the price of many things is going up, not just dairy products. Best regardsFrederica

Thank you for your reply. However, I think it's an easy excuse at the moment...

Hello Golf_what_else, thank you very much for your question. As Frederica has already rightly mentioned, raw material and energy prices have risen sharply. Swiss milk producers are also feeling the price increases, and now have to pay more for feed, energy and machinery than before. Naturally, we are constantly reviewing the market situation. If circumstances allow, we will make corrections. Yours sincerely, the M-Infoline team

Why is the butter paper in Migros always totally sticky and thickly covered with butter? When I buy the identical "DIE BUTTER" in the Coop, the paper is clean. Is there something wrong in the supply chain / cold chain?

Hello saludc1, do you always experience this problem in the same store? Please also let us know the best-before date and the lot number (letters and numbers) of an affected pack. This will enable us to make specific clarifications. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why is most of the butter in Migros not from Switzerland? Suddenly the Swiss cross is missing again... It can't be that, surely we have an overproduction of milk...?

Hello GiTo100, thank you for your inquiry. Butter stocks in Switzerland are at a very low level. There are always fluctuations in milk production due to weather, feed quality, performance per cow or fewer cows. So far in 2019, 1.6 % or 43 million kg less milk has been produced than in the previous year. Butter consumption also increased significantly during the lockdown. In order to ensure the availability of butter in Switzerland, butter has to be imported. The shortage of Swiss butter is expected to last until November 2020. We hope that we have been able to help you with this explanation. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I have also noticed this and have now switched to butter from Züger. I also don't think the declaration is well resolved.

To your answer to my question: I really can't take this argument seriously. Butter can be stored and then you just have to buy it when milk production is at a high level. Instead, poor milk prices are paid on the grounds that there is too much milk on the market and in return butter is bought from abroad. I find this tendency on the part of Migros very bad. I come across products from abroad more and more often, especially in the organic range. And the advertising then emphasizes how Swiss Migros is. For me, this is a deception of the consumer, what they are doing here with the butter is not right.

Now the jackpot question: Why are milk producers deducted for overproduction, even for the imaginary butter mountain, when there is a shortage, and why are the fat content bonuses reduced? The answer is probably because of the margin: Because of the margin. Let's be honest, butter from the EU costs a fraction, the customs tariff can be viewed by anyone in Tares, customs clearance per delivery costs less than CHF 100, depending on the carrier, and nobody is paid enough for repackaging to justify the previous price. This argument is flawed. If you're going to act for profit, then you should at least own up to it. Period.

Hello everyone, CH butter has been available again since October 19. However, it is quite possible that there is still imported butter on the shelves. This is why both origins are currently on sale. We also pay our supplier the same price for imported butter as for Swiss butter. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why can't Migros manage to store butter in such a way that it doesn't stick when the paper is peeled off? All the retailers I know that sell the same product manage to do this... What a pity...

Hello Ffjsh, thank you very much for your feedback. We are sorry that our butter does not meet your requirements. We are currently still working with summer butter, which is made from fresh cream. This butter is softer and more spreadable, but unfortunately it sticks a little more to the foil. Our manufacturer's production manager will check the individual processes and the settings on the machines in order to rectify this problem as far as possible. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

Summer butter in winter and spring too? The problem is still not solved!

Yes, unfortunately I run into the same problem all year round... and all the other retailers manage to keep the butter from sticking to the paper all year round...

Which of the many different types of butter in the Migros range contains how much Swiss milk/cream? I can't get my head around it... Some of the answers here are very old. Can someone explain the current state of affairs to me?

Hello dabudue, thank you for your question. Both the external brands (Die Butter and Floralp) and the own brands (M-Budget, Kochbutter, Valflora and Migros Bio) are all made from 100% Swiss cream. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Disappointing! This is supposed to be butter? It's a concocted milk product with added flavoring. But it tastes like margerine

Hello guest
Your message surprises us! "Butter" is made exclusively from cream and contains no other ingredients. Does your feedback perhaps refer to a different product?
Kind regards from the M-Infoline team

Guest

I'm not the same guest, but what M-Infoline wrote below shocked me too.

It says it's vegetarian, so it shouldn't be called butter but margarine! 🫣

Hello djbronx, thank you for your request. Coacoa200 is right. It is butter made from cow's milk. Accordingly, the product is vegetarian, which is not to be confused with vegan. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
