Good day. Nowadays, I'm amazed at how every banana (Demeter) or sometimes other fruit (even individual apple varieties, e.g. Pink Lady) has to be individually labeled with an adhesive label. I find this unnecessary and also visually unattractive, even as a non-activist or other non-extreme world savior. That's what my common sense tells me. The fruit is sufficiently labeled at the point of sale! What added value does a fruit that is individually labeled have? Does it taste even better then? 🤷♀️ Greetings P.B.
that the customer cannot "cheat" and take demeter bananas, but then choose "cheap bananas" on the scales! ... my common sense tells me
That's exactly the reason. Organic fruit and vegetables also have to be packaged separately.
Hi actros2546, thanks for the question. Unfortunately, it doesn't make the fruit taste any better😊. The trend of adding stickers to fruit and vegetables is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. However, this is not only happening to the satisfaction of consumers. Switzerland - or Migros - does not have enough influence to affect common practice in European trade. The use of stickers also has advantages for you: as fruit and vegetables are increasingly available without packaging, the stickers provide information about the origin and variety. Sometimes they also provide space for the EAN code. In the case of organic products, we are obliged by regulations to make a precise distinction in order to avoid confusion with conventionally produced fruit and vegetables. Hello what does demeter mean before the product I have been wondering for a long time
Hello Mansell10, thank you for your inquiry. Demeter is not only the oldest organic label, but also sets the strictest guidelines for natural food production. Demeter biodynamic farming meets the highest quality standards and makes a sustainable contribution to nature, animals and people alike. The label stands for an agricultural culture in which all those involved - the soil, the plants, the animals and the people - benefit and are strengthened in the long term. Demeter stands for biodynamic products that are produced in harmony with nature and to the highest quality.
In this context, "biodynamic" means that humans, animals, plants and soil are in perfect harmony and are seen as part of a closed cycle. Demeter consistently represents biodynamic agriculture according to its own Demeter guidelines (stricter than EU organic/CH organic regulations). Kind regards, your M-Infoline team
