Hi, I bought a 3 pack (120g×3) granary padano in migros Brugg AG last week.
Best before date is 16th of May. As i cut to seperaye the three separate bags I realised the middle one is moldy even though Not opened and stated to last until mid may. This has never happened before.
Any chance to be compensated for this faulty product?

Due to its large surface area in contact with the air, grated cheese is highly susceptible to mould.
A micro-crack in the packaging can allow air to penetrate, enabling mould to form. We will notify our supplier so they can carry out careful checks on the quality of the packaging and sealing requirements for the sachets.

For some time now, I have noticed that the structure of grated Grana Padano has changed. Unfortunately for the worse! The cheese crumbles, sticks together to form lumps or larger. The texture has become coarser and larger. It also no longer melts the same way on hot dishes. Why is this the case and does it have to be? It was perfect before and it really bothers me! I have been buying 1-2 250g bags of it at least once a week for a long time and would like to continue doing so when the cheese is finely grated again and no longer as crumbly as described! Please rectify this immediately. Thank you very much.

Since the redesign of the brand, the packaging is almost impossible to open. The tear-off tab is placed far too close to the resealable closure. If you tear off the tab, you can hardly open the closure with your fingers because there is no plastic to grip. Can this be optimized again, dear Migros?

I would like more information on the compatibility of grated Grana Padano for people with zoeliac disease. Are these cheeses produced together with products that contain gluten and could there therefore be carry-over? Or is cross-contamination ruled out?
Hello PatrickHA, the same applies to grated Grana Padano: the product must not contain any gluten-containing ingredients and any carry-over must not be expected. If a product contains gluten-containing ingredients, this must be openly declared, stating the gluten-containing grains (wheat, spelt, rye, barley, etc.). In addition, gluten-containing ingredients must be highlighted in the list of ingredients, for example in bold print or with capital letters (examples: wheat starch, WHEAT flour). Therefore: Pay attention to the list of ingredients! Traces due to possible carry-over in the manufacturing process must be indicated at the end of the list of ingredients with a "may contain" note ("may contain gluten" or "may contain traces of gluten"). Hello KaCoMu, to protect yourself against the risk of listeria infection, you should refrain from eating soft or semi-hard cheeses made from raw or pasteurized milk throughout your pregnancy. Hard and extra-hard cheeses made from raw (e.g. Grana Padano) or pasteurized milk can be eaten without risk, but only after the rind has been removed. Mozzarella and fromage frais made from pasteurized milk are also safe to eat, as is processed cheese. This has been our favorite grated cheese for years. For about 4 weeks now, the grated cheese has had a strange aftertaste. Like mold, but nothing is visible. I have tested various packs and it doesn't affect every pack. Has anything been changed?

An examination of the production records also revealed no anomalies. Therefore, the cause is probably due to leaking packaging. The cheese continues to mature due to the influence of oxygen and mold and yeast cultures develop over time, which affect the taste, even if they are not yet visible. The fact that you have already noticed this with several packs is special. In most cases, only a few packs are affected, for example if they have been damaged during transportation. The manufacturer has not received any further feedback, which is why we rule out a general production defect. We hope you have a good experience with your favorite Grana Padano again in the future.
