The jar says "Elaboré en Suisse". Does this also apply to the origin of the gherkins? That would certainly make sense. If they come from China, I would no longer buy the product. The same applies to silver onions, baby corn and other mixed pickles.

Yes, an indication on the packaging of where the "raw material" in this case, cucumbers, comes from would be desirable.

Hello Manganui, thank you for your inquiry. We understand your desire for Swiss raw materials. Domestic goods also have priority for us. Even though we are sometimes able to source individual vegetables from local suppliers, the quantities are not sufficient. That's why we are currently sourcing cucumbers from North Macedonia, Germany, Albania, Kosovo and Serbia, for example. The label "élaboré en Suisse" refers to the place of processing. As the countries change depending on availability, it is very difficult for us to adapt the wording on the labels in each case. However, we will take your message as an opportunity to address the issue as part of the next product revision. We may be able to find a satisfactory solution. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

The label says: "Consume quickly after opening." I would greatly appreciate it if this information could be a little more precise. Competitors write, for example: "Consume within 5 days after opening." The same of course applies to many other products that do not specify any or only vague consumption periods. Is this possible? Thank you in advance for any improvement!

I think Migros is doing a great job with the label "consume quickly" to avoid food waste, as many consumers throw products away because it says you have to consume them within 3-5 days of opening, just let common sense prevail, so gherkins can certainly still be eaten on the 6th day.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately the food waste problem is not solved with the "consume quickly after opening" label. We were still eating the gherkins after 30 days, but the "consume quickly" indication made us unsure.

They are cucumbers that have been preserved in vinegar. I eat the cucumbers weeks after opening and have never noticed a quality problem.

Hello oscherer, it is difficult to specify exact shelf lives for packaging that has already been opened. Gherkins are a sterilized product that is microbiologically safe and can therefore be kept for a long time without refrigeration. As soon as the lid has been opened, the situation is different. Germs can then penetrate from the outside. For example, mold spores, which are very light and swirl around in the air, invisible to our eyes. Or bacteria and yeasts, which also get into the glass via the air, via a fork that has already been used or via the fingers. It is therefore important to use clean utensils to remove the cucumbers, close the jar immediately and store it in a clean, correctly set refrigerator (5°C). But even if you follow these rules, the cucumbers will spoil over time. This is because storage at refrigerator temperature is only considered safe for a few days. Therefore, the general recommendation is to consume the opened product quickly. However, the shelf life can of course be much longer depending on the product. Gherkins can often be kept for weeks without any loss of quality. However, this is not usually the case. If the infusion is cloudy, the gherkins are slimy/mouldy or have a different taste to usual, they should no longer be eaten. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

We always buy them and have the feeling that they are slightly different in consistency / taste. Have you changed the recipe or the supplier? Or does it have to do with the season? Thanks a lot

Do you really have to import these cucumbers from Vietnam? They thrive in our country too, with much lower CO2 production. The Iniziativa de las alps would like to award you the "Devil's Stone" for this...

The Swiss eat 7000 tons of cucumbers every year. Most of them are imported. Only 300 tons are grown in Switzerland. All of these cucumbers are processed by Hugo Reitzel in Aigle VDSource: SRF

Has the formula been adjusted recently? If so, I found it better in the past (4-5 months).

Hello Nico94, we haven't changed anything in the recipe. Only the lid is new. Unfortunately, it is not clear to us why the cucumbers no longer taste as good as they did a few months ago. If you notice a difference in quality again, please let us know with further information (lot number and best-before date) via the Migros contact form. We can then follow up your feedback in detail. Hello
A general question about all Condy products: Is the wine vinegar vegan or was gelatin or similar used in the manufacturing process?
Kind regards

Hello Dililchen
We are happy to confirm that our wine vinegar is vegan and that we do not use gelatine or similar for filtration.
