Half of the powder consists of glucose syrup, which to my knowledge is a type of sugar (see for example https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glukosesirup: "Glucose syrup [...] is a thickened solution obtained from starch by hydrolytic decomposition, which consists mainly of glucose"). However, according to the nutritional information, the sugar content is only 7%. What is this glucose syrup and is it harmful to teeth?
Hello Hartobar, there are different types of glucose syrup. The glucose syrup used in this product does not consist mainly of glucose (dextrose), a monosaccharide, but mostly of polysaccharides. All monosaccharides and disaccharides are combined in the nutritional information "of which sugar". Polysaccharides are generally counted as starch among the carbohydrates. The low sugar content can therefore be explained by the low proportion of mono- and disaccharides in glucose syrup. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
