Why is the cauliflower (and broccoli) wrapped in plastic?
Hello Migroskunde83, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, cauliflower and broccoli lose water very quickly. They become rubbery and are no longer very appetizing. This would lead to a lot more food waste, which is why we wrap them in thin plastic film. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Mine started to rot in the plastic wrap. What is the best way to store it at home? In the foil or unwrapped? I've never had any problems with its shelf life.
Hello Migroskunde83, thank you for your message. Cauliflower and broccoli keep best in a cool environment, so we recommend that you store them in the vegetable compartment of the fridge. To avoid vitamin loss, it is also advisable to consume the products as soon as possible. It is preferable to pack the items in a perforated plastic bag. This creates the perfect environment of moisture and air permeability. Without appropriate air holes in the plastic bag, there is too much moisture, which can accelerate premature spoilage. Why did I pay CHF 3.80 for 1 kg of cauliflower on 29.4.2020 and CHF 5.90 for 1 kg on 22.5.2020? Both times conventional, so not organic or anything. CHF 2.10 more per kg in one month!!! Do I really have to keep comparing prices and keeping lists?
Good evening Bonini, Cauliflower is so much more expensive because the harvest was harvested extremely early in the producing countries due to the warm winter. There is now a harvest gap. So the coronavirus is not to blame for all price increases. Best regards, Frederica
Hello Bonini, thank you for your question. We will be happy to clarify this for you. Please let us know which branch or Migros cooperative you are referring to. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello, why is there no fresh cauliflower (not organic, not "normal") available in any branch in the entire "Migros-Genève" area for about 3 weeks? In the canton of Vaud and at "LeShop", on the other hand, cauliflower is always available.

I bought an organic cauliflower at Migros Zumikon on July 22. The producer is Christian Rathgeb 8476 Unterstammheim/ZH and lot L4734 is indicated on the packaging. We have already bought organic cauliflower several times and were delighted that it never caused bloating with the usual consequences after consumption. This, (I am convinced,) is because no artificial fertilizer was used to accelerate growth.
This time (on July 23), however, we were totally disappointed! With the same steam cooking as before, the cauliflower caused flatulence, even stomach pains for 24 hours. My complaint: Have you ever checked the producer Christian Rathgeb for the use of artificial fertilizers in the organic sector?
In future I will always check whether the cauliflower comes from Christian Rathgeb - and I will certainly not be buying it again for a long time.
Kind regards, Koni Wittorf, Ebmatingen.
Hello guest
We regret that the organic cauliflower has caused complaints.
The producer and Migros Zurich regularly carry out laboratory analyses on the organic products. The cantonal chemist also takes spontaneous samples, which are tested, and organic farming generally does not use artificial fertilizers or herbicides and fungicides.
However, reactions of the intestines/intestinal winds cannot be completely ruled out with cabbage vegetables.

Good morning
I have a question about cabbage in general and thought I'd give it a try here. Why is kale (field kale) not sold alongside well-known cabbage varieties such as cauliflower and Chinese cabbage?
I'm particularly surprised as kale is presented in the latest issue of Vivai magazine as being very healthy and rich in nutrients and yet I can't buy it practically anywhere in Switzerland - even in Migros. Why is that?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
Best regards
Josh
Dear Josh
Thank you for your contribution.
We have already checked the sale of kale in the past. Due to a lack of demand, we do not sell the product.
However, there are individual cooperatives that offer kale, albeit on a regional basis. If you let us know where you shop, we may be able to find a branch for you.
Have a nice afternoon and best regards from the M-Infoline team

The thing that bothers me most about cauliflower is that more and more leaves and stems have been left on the cabbage recently. To make it visible at all, the leaves are cut off at the top.
I recently weighed it and was amazed when the overlong stem and leaves accounted for a whopping 25% of the weight. Since then, I've been buying my cauliflower without leaves around 20% cheaper elsewhere... It's probably even worse with broccoli.
Thank you for your Migipedia article.
Thank you for your inquiry about the cauliflower you bought. The "waste portion" is technically known as the leaf crown and serves to protect the cauliflower from drying out and therefore plays a large part in keeping it fresh. The leaf crown content of 20% (maximum value) meets our requirements and is already included in the sales price.
The approx. 25% clearly exceeds the maximum limit, and the responsible authorities have already been informed.
The current weather situation is very difficult and as cauliflower is a natural product, the quality can fluctuate. We regret the circumstances.

I have to agree with Mr. Severin Müller. What annoys me about Mirgros is that the vegetables and fruit are sinfully expensive, but some of them are already rotten or have bruises. When I have to pay an EXTRA CHF 5.90 for a kilo of white nectarines, and this in the height of summer, it is simply no longer acceptable. It is true that Aldi and Lidl offer crisp and fresh fruit and vegetables for a third of the Migro price. I have been a Migro supporter for over 35 years, but this annoys me time and again. If I buy fruit and vegetables on a Thursday, they are already ruined two days later.
Thank you very much for your entry.
We are very sorry that you are not satisfied with the quality of the nectarines. We are happy to respond as follows:
All employees involved in the value chain strive every day to offer our customers a range of fruit and vegetables of impeccable quality.
All products are checked for quality and those that do not meet the requirements are not sold. However, certain quality defects sometimes only become apparent after some time and are barely visible.
We have of course forwarded your request to the responsible departments in Purchasing and Quality Assurance and hope to be able to convince you of our quality again in the future.
If you are not satisfied with a product in the future, you can of course return it to the relevant store and get a replacement there if necessary.
Many factors play a major role in pricing. For example, the type and caliber. Depending on this, there can be very big differences.
