When will palm oil/coconut oil finally be replaced? I've been waiting years for this... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ____

Palm fat is an important, inexpensive neutral fat. Replacing it all with sunflower oil, rapeseed oil etc butter would be much worse for the environment as much more would have to be produced. In addition, the prices of many products would increase.

A pretty bad, convenient and selfish excuse...!

Hello Pongo2019, thank you for your inquiry.

We understand your concerns about the use of palm oil in this product. Sustainability is a priority for us when developing new products. We therefore only use palm oil from RSPO-certified traders. Compared to alternatives such as rapeseed oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil, palm oil is the more sustainable vegetable fat, as it is the most land-efficient. To replace palm oil, significantly larger areas would have to be planted with other oilseeds - with corresponding negative environmental impacts. It is not the oil itself that is the problem, but the way in which it is produced. That is why we only use RSPO-certified palm oil.

Together with the WWF, Migros is one of the founding members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The aim is to improve palm oil production worldwide. This organization is made up of representatives from palm plantations, the processing industry, social and environmental organizations, banks and retailers. Sustainable cultivation in accordance with the RSPO principles and criteria means that no more tropical forest has been cleared by fire for the plantations since 2005, that the laws are complied with and that fair and safe working conditions prevail. Demands for the preservation of biodiversity, minimal use of chemicals and land rights must also be met. Migros is also committed to the further development of the principles and criteria within the RSPO, including stricter guidelines on peatland protection, and the plantations are monitored by the independent organization The Forest Trust (TFT).

We carry a large number of palm-free products throughout our range, which we are constantly expanding in response to consumer wishes. We would be delighted if you could find a favorite among these products.

We will take your request (also regarding coconut oil) on board. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Unfortunately, there is no sustainable cultivation of palm oil. Even the RSPO seal does not protect rainforests or their inhabitants, as is so readily communicated: the clearing of rainforests is not prohibited, with the exception of forests "particularly worthy of protection". The use of highly hazardous chemicals (against insects and weeds) is permitted. Compliance with the rules is often not monitored. Even companies with the RSPO seal of approval are deforesting illegally, yet people are being driven off their land and the rights of plantation workers are being disregarded.

What exactly does this article have to do with palm oil? My question is addressed to M-Infoline. The switch from palm oil to rapeseed oil has also worked very well with "M-Classic Vermicelle fixfertig", for example. Why is Migros not willing to continue this success?

Because palm fat and sunflower oil per se cannot be substituted everywhere and it sometimes has a worse impact on the environment than palm fat. Palm fat is quite neutral in taste

Since there is now apparently (picture!) a packaging where Blevitas fit in smaller quantities, one could also abolish these unspeakable smaller (where there are about 8 pieces in each or so) multiple packaging (which above all produce a lot of waste)!

Hello its_only_me
Unfortunately, the current image on Mgipedia contains incorrect image information - we apologize. The portion packs are very popular with our customers, so no change is planned at the moment.
We hope for your understanding and wish you a nice day.

I don't think the herb sandwich is bad, but the spread has a bit too "sweet" a taste. I prefer the homemade version

Hi guest
Thank you for your comment and your feedback on our Blévita sandwich.
It's a shame that it's not quite to your taste. Taste-related objections are very difficult for us to deal with, as taste is a very individual sensation. What tastes too sweet, salty, spicy or bitter for some people is still considered bland or tasteless by others. However, our specialist department is aware of your message.
We look forward to your next visit. See you soon in your Migros!
Best regards from your M-Infoline team

I got the Blevita herbs and yogurt/forest berry to test and I think both variants are super tasty! The herbal cream has a very fine taste and is not at all overpowering but very pleasant! Ideal for a snack in between (or for your daughter's snack) and healthy too! Perfect! As with the sweet version, you should definitely make other flavors (e.g. peperon cream or tomato/basil cream or e.g. curry/carrot cream) Tastes great with the Blevita!

I really like the taste of the version with herbs. I would love to have a spread made from it. It would certainly be delicious, as I think it tastes very different to Cantadou, for example.
But I also think it's too expensive, as you only get four sandwiches. But we already had the same thing with the chocolate Blévita...
