My son has coeliac disease, so he has to eat a gluten-free diet. He is allowed to eat certified gluten-free oats. I was very pleased to see that there are now oat Blévitas, especially the ones with sesame seeds. Are the oats that are used safe gluten free? Thank you for your reply!
Hello Daniela, unfortunately the oat Blévitas are not suitable for your son with coeliac disease. The Oat Blévitas contain conventional oats. Conventional oats are always contaminated with traces of gluten, whether during cultivation, transportation or processing. When buying oat products, people with coeliac disease must always make sure that they are specially produced, gluten-free oats. Products with gluten-free oats are specially labeled (gluten-free, with oats / oats gluten-free) and bear the special oat gluten-free symbol of the IG Zöliakie (crossed-out ear of wheat with the word oats). Why is this not indicated in the allergen information?
@Migroskundin15 . ..as they are indicated in the ingredients by the(bold font)!
Hello Migros customer15, conventional oats are not suitable for people with coeliac disease, as the risk of contamination with wheat and rye is relatively high. As oats (like wheat and rye) are classified as a gluten-containing grain under food legislation (oats are therefore highlighted accordingly in the list of ingredients), there is no trace of these possible contaminants on products containing normal oats. Why do these Blévita only have 210g and not 228g like the others but at the same high price?
Hello indios, thank you for your inquiry. The weight of Blévitas is not the only factor that determines its price. The oats are a little lighter to make, but this does not mean that the enjoyment, healthy nutrition and practicality are any less valuable than with a spelt or 5-grain product. On the contrary: it is an innovative recipe, which is why the oat cracker is integrated into the same price structure as the other products under the Blévita brand. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
