Same problem for me. Milk bought 08.02. 2025. Best before 21.02. Opened on 14. Milk was full of lumps. I had to throw it away. First and last time I buy organic milk from Migros. Never had this problem at the Coop.

Despite the most rigorous controls, it can never be completely ruled out that desterilization may occur between samples, for example through microscopic degradation (micro-hole) of the packaging during filling or transport.
Thickening (coagulation) of dairy products can also be the result of a break in the constancy of the cold chain. If the temperature rises above 5°C, bacteria can develop in the milk, degrading its quality.
We have asked our manufacturer to step up the corresponding controls, and to do everything in its power to ensure that such problems do not recur.

Another liter of organic milk had to be disposed of because the milk became flaky/lumpy. The best-before date is listed as 01.06.2023, but the milk is already inedible two days before this date, even though the milk has always been in the fridge. There can be various reasons for premature spoilage. For example, due to non-compliance with the cold chain or mechanical impact (knocking, dropping, jamming, etc.). The packaging can be damaged during the entire logistics process (storage, distribution). As already described, microscopic hairline cracks can occur. This removes the protective effect of the packaging and the milk can spoil, even if the packaging appears intact at first glance. In retrospect, we can no longer determine the cause. The answer from M-Infoline is not convincing. The statement "The environmental impact of the beverage carton and the PE bottle are comparable" is pretty much glossed over. The FOEN page quoted clearly states: "The study also confirms that the separate collections introduced a long time ago make ecological sense. This waste separation directly by consumers results in high recycling rates and good quality of the collected material." And: "The results show that for the large quantities of separately collected beverage packaging, recycling is ecologically more advantageous than incineration in a waste incineration plant." So what is the real reason for the change? Cost optimization? Better graphic design options?
I'd say the main thing is to change something again... Lately, I've noticed a lot of things that Migros is throwing out or changing in its product range. Milk is by no means the only product. Migros, keep up the good work :-(

I'm really annoyed about the constant changes at Migros. They are losing a customer who, until recently, was a loyal customer who for the most part only shopped at Migros. In this case, why did they change the packaging from the recyclable HDPE bottle to the waste-producing Tetra pack? I don't want pretty packaging, I want good milk. From now on, organic whole milk is off our Migros shopping list. Fortunately, we found it again at the coop. A few centimes more expensive but also good. Oh yes, by the way, our family needs at least 12 - 14 liters of milk a week... ];-)

I believe you that the environmental impact is about the same, but the impact on my waste garbage can is many times higher with the Tetra packaging. To be precise, 100% higher!!! As already mentioned, we now buy our milk from a different supplier, as they even have several plastic bottle options.

Migros does not offer such milk. There are some farmers under the Demeter label who practice mother- or lamb-supported calf rearing - but not all of them.
