Could you please correct that misleading calorie claim? What matters is only how much a person can consume (metabolize), not the energy produced when the food is burned in a furnace. Wood releases energy when burned, but we cannot digest the cellulose, which is why, from a human perspective, it has 0 calories. The dietary fiber in wheat bran is similar to wood, as its calories are also bound in cellulose. Only certain animals, such as ruminants, can break it down and absorb it. Your misleading information may discourage people on a diet from eating more bran, even though it would help them lose weight. I assume food regulations require you to present it this way, but I don’t see the point.
Hello Hartobar
For the declaration on the packaging, we are bound by the requirements of food legislation (specifically the EDI Ordinance on Food Information, known as LIV for short). This ordinance specifies the methods to be used for calculating and declaring the energy content. The energy value to be stated must be calculated using the following conversion factors:
Carbohydrates, except polyols 17 kJ/g = 4 kcal/g
Polyols 10 kJ/g = 2.4 kcal/g
Protein 17 kJ/g = 4 kcal/g
Fat 37 kJ/g = 9 kcal/g
Short-- and long-chain triacylglyceride molecules or salad trims 25 kJ/g = 6 kcal/g
Ethyl alcohol 29 kJ/g = 7 kcal/g
Organic acids 13 kJ/g = 3 kcal/g
Dietary fiber 8 kJ/g = 2 kcal/g
Erythritol 0 kJ/g = 0 kcal/g
As you can see, unfortunately we cannot simply "correct" the calorie information.
Best regards, your M-Infoline Team

Is organic wheat bran back on the shelves? Or is it being discontinued?
Because the Migros app says that most stores in the Zurich region don't have it in stock!!!
Hello Claudia2018, thank you for your inquiry. We reclassified the item last year. This means that it is now only available in selected stores. In the Zurich region, these would be the Silbern, Tivoli (no longer Zurich, but has stock), Regensdorf, Altstetten, Limmatplatz, Affoltern, Brunaupark, and Puls 5 stores, for example. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

New bag (12.2021 L26.02) opened, bran mixed into the muesli. 10 minutes later when I return to the kitchen: numerous brown creatures crawling around in and around the opened bag.... I feel sick. I hope it's only from the sight of them and not from any unintentional meat garnishes in my stomach... How can I prevent this from happening in future? Or how can I make sure that I don't eat any eggs or similar in creepy-crawly-free packs?
Hello hardid61, thank you for the message. We have checked the retained samples and could not find any deviations. Many natural products are susceptible to pest infestation. Manufacturers therefore treat vulnerable products such as rice, wheat etc. with CO2 before processing. The natural gas contained in the air is harmless to health. Any pests and their eggs suffocate. This method is very efficient and represents state-of-the-art technology. An infestation is possible during the growth phase of the plant as well as in the stores or in the household. Despite all measures, an infestation cannot be completely avoided. Unfortunately, such infections can be very persistent. We therefore recommend that you check all your food supplies carefully. This applies in particular to the products mentioned above. It could be that the pests have also settled in other foods and can therefore infect newly purchased supplies again and again. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
All the problems only come from the organic craze, I never buy organic if I can help it.

It's a shame that you can no longer buy wheat bran nearby. Wouldn't it be possible to at least offer it in Langenthal?
Hello spain01, thank you for your message. We have informed the relevant department about your request. However, we ask for your understanding if we do not implement this immediately or at all. You can find the product in Egerkingen. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why is wheat bran no longer on the Migros shelves? Too bad
Hello spain01, thank you for your inquiry. Wheat bran is still available in the Migros range, but only larger and selected stores still offer the product. You can check availability in your region at the following link: https://produkte.migros.ch/bio-schweizer-weizenkleie Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

Will spelt bran be available in the near future? It doesn't necessarily have to be organic, but since there is original spelt flour, could you also sell "original spelt bran"? :-)
Hello Fairtrader Thank you very much for your message. Your input is important to us! Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to launch spelt bran. However, we have forwarded your request to our product specialists. They have promised to consider your request in an upcoming product range revision. We are here for you and wish you lots of fun on Migipedia. Best regards from the M-Infoline team
