Why is a product that can also be grown in Switzerland being imported from Moldova? It would be nice if Migros could include more regional products in its range.
Migros or Coop once explained this. The income from Switzerland is nowhere near enough.

Hello GuyCH, organic walnut kernels are nuts that do not come from wild harvesting. Organic products are produced, controlled and certified according to stricter guidelines. Traceability must be guaranteed, but this is very difficult to implement in the case of wild harvesting. For this reason, the walnut trees are planted by the farmers in a controlled manner. In Moldova, however, there are no huge areas of monocultures as is perhaps known from other countries. It is therefore possible that conventional walnuts from Moldova come from wild harvesting. I think it's great that you have organic walnuts in your range. However, I would like to know whether they are sulphurized and/or heated beforehand. Apparently both are often practiced. Thank you very much for your answer.

These organic walnuts are neither heated nor sulphurized. Organic products are generally not sulphurized, as this is not permitted under organic regulations. This would also be indicated on the list of ingredients.
