Hello KresseFasan, thank you for your inquiry. The organic sunflower seeds are suitable as toppings in salads or as an addition to muesli and yoghurt. We hope this information is helpful for you. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Which country do these sunflower seeds come from? They are different from the local ones.
Hello Vera, thank you for your interest. We source our organic sunflower seeds from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and Romania. The origin varies depending on the harvest time in the countries of origin. However, this is always indicated on the back of the packaging. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Food law stipulates that the origin must also be declared in online retail (i.e. LeShop). This is not the case with this product.

I have also just discovered that these sunflower seeds come from China! and reading through the comments, I am glad to see that I am not the only one who is in conflict with this and has to go in search of sunflower seeds in another store that are a bit more "regional".
But what I find even sadder is that they only ever talk about "organic" sunflower seeds. I'm all for organic, but if the organic has to come from China, then I'd much rather have the NON-ORGANIC from the REGION! which generally comes out a lot more organic than an organic that has half a WORLD TRAVEL behind it!
so, even if the origin of the organic seeds cannot be changed, why not offer a second product of sunflower seeds that is not organic but has not traveled around the world?
Thank you very much for "listening".
Franziska
Hello Franziska
Thank you for your message. We understand your concern.
When it comes to organic products and ingredients, origin from Switzerland is our top priority. Second priority is given to origin from Europe and third priority to origin from overseas.
Organic products that are produced in Switzerland must meet the requirements of the Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance. If ingredients from Swiss agriculture are used, they must come from Bio Suisse certified farms. If, on the other hand, raw materials from foreign agriculture are used, they must be produced in accordance with the guidelines of the EU Organic Farming Ordinance.
Organic products that are produced abroad must meet the requirements of the EU Organic Farming Ordinance. The requirements of the EU Organic Regulation also apply to organic products from overseas, such as South America and China.
Before a supplier is allowed to supply Migros Bio products, he must sign the Migros Bio agreement, which is based on the Bio Suisse guidelines, the Federal Organic Farming Ordinance and the EU Organic Farming Ordinance. He thereby undertakes to comply with the relevant organic guidelines. As part of the product launch, the organic raw material certificates and the organic certification of the supplier are also requested. After a thorough check, an organic product approval is issued if all requirements are met, after which the product may be sold under the organic label.
In addition, we check the organic products for compliance with the organic specifications as part of our self-inspection obligation.
We have checked the demand for a second sunflower seed product - unfortunately it is too low.
We hope this information is useful for you.

Hello guest
Thank you for your feedback.
We understand what you mean. However, it is true that the area under cultivation in Switzerland does not cover the annual demand for organic sunflower seeds. Please bear in mind that we are not the only ones who need organic sunflower seeds for our range.
We have been sourcing organic sunflower seeds from China for years and have had very good experiences with them. Of course, we respect your opinion and take your
We will inform our product managers accordingly.

Dear migros.
Does it have to be that my migros delivers sunflower seeds from china?
I feel sorry for the organic farmer next door!!!
Can something be organic if it has been transported halfway around the world?

Hi guest
Thank you for your comment.
For organic products/ingredients, the origin from Switzerland has top priority. Second priority is given to origin from Europe and third priority to origin from overseas.
Organic sunflower seeds are grown on farms in Switzerland. However, the area under cultivation cannot cover the annual demand for organic sunflower seeds. We are not the only ones who need organic sunflower seeds for our range. In order to be able to offer the usual quality, we therefore have to rely on provenances from abroad. The organic sunflower seeds from abroad also all come from certified organic production and meet the prescribed requirements. The processing of organic products in and from abroad must comply with the requirements of the European Organic Regulation.
China is a recognized procurement market for sunflower seeds in this hulled quality. We have been sourcing this raw material there for years and have had very good experiences. Our specialist department is aware of your request, but there are no plans to change this.
We ask for your understanding and wish you a good start to the new year.
Kind regards from the M-Infoline team

Yes, I too will refrain from buying this product. Organic from China, sorry for me that's a contradiction, almost borders on fraudulent labeling! Embarrassing
Hello divbal
Thank you for your comment.
As a Swiss company, we source as much food as possible from Switzerland and, as a second priority, from Europe. Migros buys around 20% of the produce from Swiss agriculture.
Nevertheless, as in the case of organic sunflower seeds, it is not always possible to cover our annual requirements from Swiss cultivation or to procure the desired quality from nearby countries. However, we are constantly looking for new procurement channels. Take the example of organic oat flakes: Migros was able to convince Swiss farmers to grow this valuable grain. Now the oat flakes are available in organic quality from Switzerland.
The organic products from China also meet the requirements of the European Organic Farming Regulation.
Have a nice evening and best wishes from the M-Infoline team

I have NOT been buying sunflower seeds from Migros for many years because they come from China!!!
-
For me, organic food is not about the "bottling location" (as the M-Infoline stipulates... see under "lagazelle" 31 weeks ago)
- it is about food that is not grown on contaminated soils.
- it's about reliable organic.
- and it's also about food that doesn't have to be transported halfway around the world.
None of this is the case with MIGROS (unfortunately also Coop...) organic sunflower seeds FROM CHINA. That's why they have been missing from my menu for years, tragic!
If MIGROS wants to, then SoBlu seeds can be found in Europe.
Thank you for your message.

Hello M-Infoline team
I was just in Vienna, where you can buy organic sunflower seeds from Bulgaria (at Billa notabene). They are slightly smaller than those from China, but very tasty. They are called Farmgold, surely Migros could also sell them. In any case, food from Bulgaria is much more appealing than food from China.
Hello lagazelle
Thank you for your suggestion. Even if your request is one of the first of its kind, we will be happy to take it into consideration for the next revision whenever possible.

Thank you M-Infoline team for taking my suggestion on board.
Basically, I'm probably not the only consumer who doesn't like buying food from China.
Best regards

my mother comes from thrace turkey sunflower country and she is a farmer girl she says the sunflower seeds from china have a bland taste
at first i couldn't believe that you are cheating the organic consumers so cheekily many simply don't know where the stuff comes from and you are dragging the organic idea into the mud.
you simply can't be believed anymore

The Swiss Bächi from the Swiss inspection body IMO, for example, has been inspecting organic grain, soy, vegetables and seafood in China for ten years. The most difficult thing there? "The fact that nothing is true according to our understanding of reality," says Bächi. "The Chinese will sign anything. The problem is finding out what is real."

I find it scandalous that only one product from China is available, please also offer sunflower seeds from Europe.
Guest
I agree!!!
Hello lagazelle
Our shelled organic sunflower seeds come from China, which is also communicated as the origin, but the filling is done by the company Delica in Birsfelden.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer organic sunflower seeds from domestic production, as the quantities grown in Switzerland are far too small. The majority of organically grown sunflower seeds are used for the production of oil. The products from China are organically grown and comply with Migros organic regulations.
