One reads that the eyestalks of the females are removed in the breeding farms in order to increase production. Is this also the case with the organic range? Frozen or chilled?
Hello Blueeye59, please excuse our late response.
Animal welfare is an issue that we take very seriously. According to the EU regulation, eyestalk removal is definitely not allowed in organically farmed shrimp. This means that eyestalk removal, including all similar practices such as ligature, incision and pinching, is prohibited for organically farmed aquaculture animals. This is constantly monitored. We therefore guarantee that no stalk removal has taken place on any of the organic shrimp products delivered to Migros. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
