Do all Migros teas come in toxic-free or microplastic bags?

Hello Grizzly_, thank you very much for your inquiry. Apart from the thread and the label, our Migros Bio double-compartment tea bags are made exclusively from natural wood and banana leaf fibers, to which tiny amounts of a so-called moisture-resistant agent are added during the manufacturing process. The aim is to make the filter paper tear-resistant. This agent binds inseparably to the paper fiber and is insoluble. Up to now, it has not been technically possible to manufacture tea bags, infusion bags, coffee filters or even paper tissues without this agent. It is not technically possible to manufacture tea bags, infusion bags, coffee filters or even handkerchiefs without a moisture-resistant agent, as they would disintegrate in contact with moisture. The thread material is cotton and the label is paper. The tea bags are harmless to health according to all national and international standards, and can be disposed of in organic waste or garden compost.

We assume that you would like information on other tea products. We're delighted to have compiled some information for you. Here's what we can tell you about M-Budget teas:

The filter paper in the M-Budget tea bag is what's known as a heat-sealed tea filter. The tea filter material consists mainly of natural plant fibers and a proportion of PLA (polylactic acid) to ensure heat-sealing. PLA is made from renewable raw materials, the origin of which is corn starch.

In addition, the material of the Yogi tea bag is non-woven PLA, and therefore not nylon. PLA is a starch-based plastic that can be industrially composted. So there are no microplastics.

The manufacturer of the "Tetley" brand has also made changes to its design and tea bags. The cardboard packaging contains no plastic overwrapping and is therefore 100% recyclable. What's more, they are designed to be compact, generating less waste. Drawstring bags have been replaced by double-compartment bags of plant origin, with a thread and a label, which are also recyclable. As for the weight of the tea, the manufacturer has made no changes. So you can be sure of getting the same quality as before.

We hope you find this information on tea products useful.
Sincerely, your M-Infoline team

It tastes great, I love it.
One question, what material is the tea bag made of? Plastic or cotton?

Hello arturowuerth, thank you for your question. The tea bag is made of abaca fiber (a type of banana plant) and cellulose, the thread is made of cotton and the label is made of paper. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
