Dear Migros team. I really like quinoa and have been eating it almost every day recently. I have read that the saponin content in quinoa is sometimes quite high, and as I am sensitive, this worries me. Does Migros regularly test the saponin content of this quinoa and what measures (washing) does it take to reduce the natural content? Should I wash the quinoa myself before cooking? Thank you for your information. Kind regards, "Twilight"
Hi Twilight, thanks for the question. Saponins are a natural protective layer of quinoa seeds. This is a great advantage for storage by farmers in Bolivia, as the bitter substances keep insects away. These seeds have a reddish/pinkish color and our quinoa does not come from any special breeding. It is professionally washed after harvesting in Bolivia, dried immediately and then cleaned and sorted. The residual saponin content is then practically no longer measurable. We recommend washing quinoa yourself before cooking it. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Dear M-Infoline team, thank you very much for the information. Kind regards

Is the quinoa polished or whole grain?
Hello Aleina, thank you for your message. During production, the husk is removed from the product. Without removing the husk, the quinoa would taste soapy and would not be edible. As the husk has been removed but the skin still covers the grain, it is a whole grain. As soon as the quinoa is cooked, if you look closely you can also see that the grain bursts and is squeezed out between the skin in this way. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Is it possible to obtain information on how this quinoa is grown? What exactly do the different logos mean? is any long-term work being done with the farmers?
Hi Lipa, our quinoa is certified Max Havelaar, Bio and Aha! Bio is a well-known label, and Max Havelaar guarantees fair working conditions for producers. Aha! means that the product is gluten-free. With Max Havelaar, we guarantee the purchase of a certain quantity of goods. Farmers know that this quantity will be purchased. This gives farmers financial security. Yours faithfully, your M-Infoline team
