Fruit juice is an unfermented juice made from healthy and ripe fruit with a characteristic taste, aroma and color. Any mixture of apple and pear juice can be called pome fruit juice, fruit juice or sweet cider. Apple juice may be called apple juice if it contains no more than 10% pear juice by mass. Conversely, this also applies to pear juice, which may contain a maximum of 10 percent apple juice by mass. Hello Andrea_99, thank you for the question. Sweet cider is usually not pure apple juice, but a mixture of pure, cloudy apple juice and pear juice. Apple juice, for example, does not contain any alcohol. Sweet cider can (but does not necessarily) contain little alcohol and contains no or very little carbon dioxide. Apple and pear cider is made from cider fruit, which has a higher tannin content than fruit intended for consumption. The juice, known as sweet must, is pressed from the fruit using a cider press.
