Migros Bio Garden AmeisenSpray** contains natural pyrethrum (extract from the flower of a type of chrysanthemum grown in Africa) as an active ingredient. It contains the pyrethrins. Natural pyrethrum, or pyrethrins, should not be confused with synthetically produced pyrethroids. In contrast to pyrethroids (artificially produced and problematic for cats), pyrethrins, i.e. the active components of natural pyrethrum, are broken down very quickly under the influence of light, air and heat. Natural pyrethrum is not absorbed into the treated material, nor does it evaporate at normal temperatures, so it is also not effective as a respiratory poison. The same active ingredient is also used in environmental sprays to control pests such as fleas for use in cat litter trays. We therefore recommend keeping the cat away during treatment and until the spray coating has completely dried. This is the case after about 4 hours. Treated areas can then be walked on again.
