hello! it says here that the chocolate is from organic production - but i don't see an organic label anywhere. according to which organic criteria was the chocolate certified?
Hello Einstök, thank you for your inquiry. We are delighted that you are interested in our Alnatura Sélection chocolate! The official organic logo is located at the bottom of one of the narrow sides of the packaging. As far as certification is concerned, the product does not carry a special fair trade seal.
Why is that? The use of such seals requires a license, which would make the chocolate more expensive, which is why we decided against it. Irrespective of this, we attach great importance to the sustainable and socially responsible origin of our organic raw materials. The cocoa for Alnatura chocolates comes mainly from small farmers in the Dominican Republic.
Our chocolate manufacturer maintains long-standing, partnership-based relationships with local suppliers. Fair trading conditions give the producers planning security. In addition, projects to improve the social situation on the ground are supported - for example, the sale of organic cocoa enables children to attend school all year round. If raw materials come from so-called risk countries - as classified by the Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) - our Alnatura Policy Social Standards apply.
In such cases, proof of recognized compliance with social standards in the companies of origin is mandatory. We hope these lines are informative. If you have any further questions, please contact us! We are here for you! Best regards, your M-Infoline team
