Please comment on micha_47's comment from 3 years ago, including the linked article. What is the current situation? Can you assure us that your organic farmed salmon is free of toxins and therefore harmless to health?
Hello Migosa, thank you for your question. The Migros organic guidelines prohibit the use of ethoxyquin in fish feed. However, antioxidant contamination can occur - this is unfortunately unavoidable. We carried out extensive investigations with the producers to find the cause of these contaminations. We found that traces of antioxidants cannot be completely avoided in organic feed for a number of reasons. Certain vitamins (primarily vitamins A and D) are stabilized with ethoxyquin. The manufacturers of vitamin mixtures are dependent on a few suppliers of these vitamins. Even if the vitamin mix manufacturers themselves do not add ethoxyquin, small traces are usually found in the vitamin mixes.
