I have the following questions about Alnatura coconut oil (which is not neutral in taste, i.e. the jar with the label with the blue stripe) - is the oil: - not hardened and refined, - not deodorized and bleached, - free from trans fatty acids and any additives, - 100% from fresh fruit pulp, - up to almost 60% from lauric acid? Unfortunately, nothing is noted on the jar.
Hello Ebbi, thank you for your inquiry. For Alnatura coconut oil, the coconuts are processed directly after harvesting. First, the fresh coconuts are peeled and the flesh is chopped. This is then dried and pressed. Trans fatty acids can arise in particular through the industrial hardening of fats. Alnatura virgin coconut oil is not hardened or treated in any other way. It is a cold-pressed oil. We do not have any analyses of the lauric acid content. This can fluctuate naturally. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I contacted Alnatura Germany directly about this, and this was the answer: "We can very well understand your uncertainty. One batch did not meet the quality requirements in some cases, so this product was withdrawn from sale by our trading partner in Switzerland as a precautionary measure. We are in close contact with our manufacturing partner. They have already implemented optimization measures to ensure consistent product quality in the future. The product should therefore be available again in Switzerland in the near future. As long as you do not notice any deviation in recently opened jars, it cannot be assumed that there is a quality defect."

Does the coconut oil have an unchanged component and composition of lauric acid after processing with steam?

Hello curley, for some time now there has been a special Swiss version of virgin coconut oil without the word "virgin" on it. The reason for this was an instruction from the Zurich cantonal laboratory at the time.

Hi curley, this coconut oil is made by pressing the coconut meat without adding heat. The supplier has assured us that no refining processes are used. However, as the coconut meat is dried beforehand, the product may no longer be labeled as virgin. This is because the virgin rule does not stipulate any further processing steps. What kind of plantations do the coconuts for oil extraction come from? Are they small farmers' cooperatives or larger companies that supply the nuts? How should we imagine this?
