Thank you for your response... You say that the corn to be used to produce environmentally sustainable/compostable materials is produced with GMO and therefore not consonant... Too bad that almost all the yogurts produced by Migros have as a thickener , think about it, genetically modified corn...except in organic yogurts... How sad...So much for ecobalances.... And by the way, even to produce meat and meat products (which I no longer consume) tons of grain and water are used that could feed who knows how many people...Although I do my best to recycle as much as possible, in my point of view it is the producing companies , that upstream, must avoid non-ecological packaging . But you always look at the economic side (that of the firms) and not ecological ... It's useless that Migros charges for grocery bags (and that's fine) but then I find myself using mittens and plastic bags (not compostable) for fruit and vegetables in bulk (I also bought nets but few people use them since it's not mandatory)then on the shelves I find cucumber packed cherry tomatoes in small plastic boxes etc ect ...then the real change starts with you ... And I feel that more people think like me.... Thank you

I wonder if we can't find more "natural" packaging made from bio-compostable and environmentally friendly raw materials... We have a moral duty for our world to stop polluting.... The biodegradability of these materials depends on the action of microorganisms or enzymes. These materials can be based on renewable raw materials or on petroleum derivatives. In the past few years, we have several times taken a close look at biodegradable plastics and calculated their ecobalances. The results of these eco-balances have shown, for example, that biodegradable plastics made from corn and sugarcane do not have greater benefits than conventional plastics, even if they are mostly made from renewable raw materials and if they are compostable. The reasons for the negative performance of biodegradable packaging are related to the methodologies used to cultivate renewable raw materials, such as intensive cultivation, monocultures, and the use of genetically modified plants (e.g., GMO corn). Another problem is that the production of biodegradable materials partly rivals the production of foodstuffs. Bioplastics are made, for example, from corn, potato or soybean starch, staple foods for much of humanity. For the reasons mentioned above, at present we consider using bioplastics for packaging only if they perform better in ecobalances than conventional plastics, if their production does not compete with that of foodstuffs, and if the production process does not involve the use of genetically modified organisms.
