A refreshing treat

good as a gift

After Eight, these mint-filled squares, have been on the market for at least forty years. They were launched in Switzerland and quickly gained in popularity. At the time, they were considered an innovative and popular treat, while in England they are commonplace and I was able to taste them before they were already on the French and Swiss market. Over time, however, the composition of After Eights has changed. The chocolate coating has become thinner and less strong in percentage, and the mint jelly has become stickier. The flavor is no longer the same and is almost sickening for my taste. In the past, the product was raw and the best-before date was very short, whereas now it's practically standard. Nevertheless, it's advisable to keep them in the fridge to avoid unpleasant surprises. It's regrettable that what was once a square of deliciousness has been denatured. After Eight is not what it used to be and has lost its unique flavor.
