Hello Can you also bake these fries allumettes in the deep fryer? Thank you very much.

Hello Mondsonnenschein, thank you for your question. You can also prepare the M-Classic Pommes Allumettes in the deep fryer. However, as these are much thinner fries than normal, the Allumettes should not be fried for longer than two minutes. We recommend that you deep-fry the Allumettes in oil heated to 170°C. Why do these fries have more calories than the m-clasic fries in the blue packaging?

These are allumettes (matches), so much thinner and presumably therefore greasier 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi Michi2000, the thinner the cut of the potato sticks, the higher the fat content. Thinner ones have a larger surface area than thicker fries. This means that they absorb more fat during frying than thicker fries. Best wishes, your M-Infoline team

But aren't they oven fries?!

Hello Michi2000, yes, the M-Classic Pommes Allumettes are oven fries, but they are also pre-fried. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

French fries are pre-fried in fat and contain fat on their own. Potatoes themselves have practically no fat. If you want to make them in the oven without fat, you have to prepare them yourself.

I tried the Allumettes for the first time. Is it normal for them to be so greasy? The baking foil and the baking tray were very greasy, so that the baking tray hardly came out clean when I washed it off. Apart from that, I found the fries very tasty, but I also had to leave them in for longer, I like them well done and crispy.

Dear erikakoch
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Can you please provide us with the best-before date and the lot number of your fries? Without this information, our supplier will unfortunately not be able to locate the samples to check them.
Many thanks in advance and best regards from the M-Infoline team

Hello erikakoch
Thank you for your patience.
We have had the retained samples checked. The values measured were within the tolerance limit.
The fat content of the Pommes Allumettes is declared as 8%, which is higher than that of normal oven fries (6%). This is due to the fact that allumettes are thinner and therefore have a larger surface area in relation to their volume and weight and absorb more oil. This oil is then partially released to the outside during baking. It is therefore normal for this item to have a greasier appearance than normal oven fries.
We hope this helps you and wish you a sunny day.
See you soon in your Migros!
Best regards from the M-Infoline team
