Bought at the end of March, opened in mid-April and now it already smells rancid - is that normal?

Hello lawakibeach_06, so that we can trace the production, we ask you to give us the best-before date and the lot number (begins with L and consists of letters and numbers). Best regards, your M-Infoline team

MhD is 17.8.23. Unfortunately, I cannot find the lot number or a number/number combination on the parcel.

I dropped the butter off at the store this week. I assume it is correct that I have not yet received a refund. Kind regards

Hello lawakibeach_06, thank you for your submitted sample and for your patience.

We analyzed the cooking butter and could not detect any deviations. The raw material used, "clarified butter", has a naturally intense odor, which may be perceived as rancid. This smell is typical of the species and has absolutely no influence on the palatability and quality of the product. The warmer the cooking butter is, the more intense the flavor becomes. We will contact you privately. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Frying butter: I've been using this boiled butter for frying etc. all my life, but now I have to avoid it 🙈because if this butter used to cost Fr. 6.50 in earlier years, later Fr. 8.60 AND NOW Fr. 11.-- (!!!), I don't want to and can't afford it any more 🥲 My MPK has NEVER made such an increase in 14 years, neither in the short term nor in the long term.) I can no longer afford it 🥲 In any case, my MPK has NEVER made such an increase in 14 years, neither in the short term nor in the long term. Explain your reasoning to me; ... thought we were "sitting on mountains of butter"? that doesn't fit together. 👎

At the moment butter prices are rising unchecked, I read in the media (also abroad), and the "butter mountains" have only become a "little hill" in the last few years, didn't we even have to import butter about 2 years ago?

Reasons? Sure, the Ukraine war, but I also had to smile that we are still "hoarding", freezing butter, storing large stocks of UHT milk, another reason, as I have read.

if at least the farmers were paid reasonable milk prices ...

Hello ch-pedrino, thank you for your message. There is indeed a butter shortage in Switzerland, which means that we currently have to resort to imported products for many butter products. In addition, milk prices have risen sharply, which is also affecting the price of M-Classic frying butter. We assure you that we are monitoring the market situation closely. If the situation eases, we will of course make adjustments again. We hope our efforts are in your interest. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Posted in the wrong place, sorry😉

Hello, is it normal that the price of this article has increased from 8.65 to 11.-? How do you justify such a significant increase? The label on the article still says 8.65. Thank you

Hello JBBB, and thank you for your question. We fully understand your amazement at this price increase! The global raw materials market is currently undergoing a huge price hike. Added to this are significantly higher transport and energy costs. Unfortunately, these factors have forced us to increase our prices. We're sorry that the old prices are still on the shelves. Could you please let us know in which store you noticed this? Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Can you please translate the answer into German?

Hello Gugelibear, thank you for the question. The translated version of the answer above reads as follows: "We can well understand the astonishment about the price increase! The global raw materials market has become massively more expensive. Added to this are the much higher transportation and energy costs. Unfortunately, these factors have made a price increase unavoidable. We are sorry that the old price is still written on the shelf. Could you please let us know in which store you discovered this?" Best regards, your M-Infoline team

OK, thank you. I don't really understand the arguments "worldwide" and "transportation costs" for a Swiss product. Do the higher proceeds at least go to the farmers?

Edited

Hello Gugelibear, thank you for the suggestion. The arguments mentioned above refer more generally to the general price increase. In the case of frying butter, however, there is also the fact that there is a butter shortage in Switzerland. Milk prices have also risen sharply. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

What is the shelf life of the cooking butter?

Hello Nieich, please refer to the packaging information. The product has a best-before date, which applies to the unopened product. If the best-before date has passed, this means that you must expect a reduction in quality. As long as the quality - you can judge it by looking, smelling and tasting - is still good, you can still consume the product. If in doubt, throw it away. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Stored correctly, for example in the refrigerator, the frying butter can be used well beyond the best-before date!

Hello, thank you for your answers. The in-store labelling seems to have been corrected in the meantime. As for your justifications for the price increase, I completely understand but your arguments seem misplaced. Butter is of Swiss origin and most of your goods are chartered by train. Also the Coop sells a product equal to Chf 8.95 - https://www.coop.ch/fr/nourriture/produits-laitiers-oeufs/beurre-margarine/beurre-de-cuisine-graisses/gourmet-le-beurre-a-rotir/p/3080168 - it would be nice if you could make an effort for our wallet too. Thank you

I don't understand this "reason" either 🙈and I just made the remark!
