Good morning, lately while shopping I noticed several expiring products to which they applied 33% discount. Now, my question is, how come once (ca 6-7months ago) expiring products were labeled as 1/2 price and now "only" 33%? Which on the other hand has not changed beyond Gotthard, where the discounts of expiring products (the same day or the following day if a holiday or Sunday) were (still on 18.11.2023) still 50% off the full price. Hi KWolf99, thank you for your response. I really appreciate your help! As promised, we made further inquiries with the relevant office. As it turns out, each branch decides for itself whether and when to grant reductions. Products that are about to pass the minimum shelf life date are often reduced by 33% as early as the morning. This has the advantage that all customers and clients can benefit early from price reductions without having to wait until late in the day. This approach is also useful because experience has shown that people are more likely to buy the reduced-price products during the day. In the evening, price-reduced foodstuffs often end up staying in the branch. The method is therefore optimal for taking targeted action against food waste. We also reduce the workload on site, since our employees only have to apply the price reduction once. Otherwise a replacement every couple of hours would be necessary.
