I was in Migros today and discovered a reduced product (Selection Bündnerfleisch). On closer inspection, I noticed that the sale price was a promotion. However, the reduced price was based on the original price. I asked the sales staff because I didn't think this was right. What do you think about this approach?
Presumably, this is an item that is being offered at a reduced price (usually 33.33%) due to the imminent best-before date. The fact that in this case you don't get a second discount on top of the price already reduced by the promotion seems understandable to me. On the other hand, I can remember purchases where it was different. Migros may have changed its practice here, which I would understand. Otherwise I criticize them enough 😉.

This is the normal standard product, which will be sold again at the normal price after the promotion. We assume that the reduction based on the original price is due to the approaching expiration date.
