I wonder what effect automatic checkouts have on prices. Migros probably saves a lot of money by not having to hire staff, but how is this visible to the customer who uses these checkouts?

Hi nadecham, subitoGo is not designed to save you money. Rather, the idea is to complement the payment options already available. In other words, the Self-Checkout or Self-Scanning terminals were not set up to reduce staff numbers, but rather to offer a service to customers, who wanted to save time when shopping thanks to a faster purchasing method. On the other hand, there are also employees at the Subito terminals. And there are still conventional checkouts, for which staff are needed. But it's fair to say that the supermarket and shopping behavior have not stopped evolving over time. The same applies to job profiles. These days, the cashier also plays the role of consultant, and alternates between customer service and the flower department. Subito offers an additional responsibility, as this payment process cannot be carried out without employees. Clearly, fewer cashiers will be needed in future, but not fewer employees.
