Lately—maybe for the past 2 or 3 months—we’ve been selected for a spot check in 8 out of 10 of our weekly shopping trips. Of course, we’ve always scanned everything properly, but it’s really striking that it’s become quite rare for us to simply pay and leave the store. It can’t be that there were no checks at all for years and now they’re happening all the time, can it?
