Skyr - Embracing Diversity and Setting Trends

Skyr - Vielfalt pflegen und Trends setzen

For months now, we’ve been facing the same challenges over and over again in many stores: Skyr is sold out, unavailable, or isn’t being restocked consistently. The result is simple: customers are turning to the competition. And once they’re standing in front of the refrigerated aisle there, they often find not only the plain skyr they’re looking for, but the entire product line as well.

That’s exactly why we should look at the skyr issue not only from the perspective of availability but also from that of innovation.

Of course, the strong and established varieties must be retained. But when the choice is between a Migros Skyr Stracciatella and a virtually identical product from a competitor, there’s often no compelling reason for the customer to consciously choose Migros.

Why not be more daring? Why not offer varieties that are still rare on the market or are currently missing?

Apple
Banana
Pear
Peanut
Apple-Cinnamon
Rhubarb
Pistachio
etc.

Migros was once a pioneer in many categories. Especially when it comes to fresh foods and private labels, we should once again take the lead in setting trends rather than chasing after them. Customers are looking for variety, new taste experiences, and reasons why a visit to Migros is worthwhile.

My wish: First, ensure the availability of existing bestsellers while also having the courage to inject fresh momentum with new flavors. Not just more of the same, but offering what others don’t have. That’s how we create true differentiation and prevent our customers from permanently switching to the competition for their skyr purchases.
