No manufacturer will be able to do without an aluminum tube, for hiking, the aluminum tube is and remains the best solution, you have to decide, I think it's great that Thomy even offers mini aluminum mustard and mayo in small packages.

In order to best address customer needs, Migros offers mustard and mayonnaise in both glass jars and aluminium tubes. How environmentally friendly a packaging is can be assessed on the basis of packaging intensity (material and weight) and the packaging cycle (recycled material used and disposal). Packaging intensity: Glass packaging is many times heavier than tubes and therefore less efficient. Although the production of aluminum requires a lot of energy, much less material is used for the same amount of mustard / mayonnaise in a tube. Tube packaging is therefore more efficient than jars. Packaging cycle: Both types of packaging - aluminum tubes and disposable jars - are easily recyclable and in Switzerland both types of packaging can be recycled at municipal collection points. The recycling rates in Switzerland are also very high (aluminum packaging 85%; disposable jars 90%). However, disposable jars already contain a high proportion of recycled material and therefore perform slightly better in the packaging cycle than tubes. The bottom line is that aluminum tubes and disposable jars perform comparably - there is no clear winner from an environmental perspective. Small hint. The kWh figures are probably correct for the production of new aluminum (from ore). Recycling requires only 5% of the energy and can be reprocessed an infinite number of times, whereas glass (which also requires energy to produce or recycle) can only be reprocessed 50 times with the addition of new glass (see e.g. energie.ch).
how about using reusable containers instead, which you return cleaned and take a new one like the beer bottle depot
