Dear Migros, this is becoming tiresome. I'm not expecting anything out of the ordinary, am I? I just want to buy my 10-20 Swiss eggs during my weekly online shopping.
Now I have to make a special trip to the farm again. What an annoying waste of time.

Since fall 2024, production has been unable to fully meet demand, especially around holidays such as Christmas and Easter. We expect a shortage until at least Easter and possibly a few days beyond. For me, the egg shortage has been going on for a long time, not just since fall 2024. But I could be wrong about that.
Why can't Swiss farmers produce more eggs? Why don't they buy more chickens? Foreigners manage to do it, don't they, with imported eggs?
And I understand that more eggs are consumed than usual on holidays such as Easter and Christmas. But it's not Christmas or Easter at the moment.

Easter is still more than a month away, and the shelves have been empty for a while now!
I don't think people are already dyeing eggs and that's why demand has increased...
Apart from that, there are stores in my city where there is sufficient stock and others where there simply haven't been any eggs for weeks. Maybe they should distribute them a little better?

As already mentioned, we expect shortages to continue until at least Easter and possibly a few days beyond. After that, demand and availability should be back in balance. However, we cannot currently predict with 100 percent certainty how the market will continue to develop.
