This certificate is very questionable. Are there any alternatives to this label? I am not a fan of products from the Bill Gates and Melinda Foundation. Could this be checked?

Hello manlor Thank you for opening this topic. The Rainforest Alliance seal with the green Forsch stands for a better future for people and nature. Human rights must be respected on certified farms - they should be a safe place to work and live for all employees. Producers receive special training on topics such as gender equality and the prevention of child labor and discrimination. The Rainforest Alliance is committed to improving the living conditions of farm owners and workers, for example by supporting producers in more sustainable cultivation methods. As a result, they achieve higher yields, have lower costs and are better able to adapt to the consequences of the climate crisis. Certified producers also actively contribute to environmental protection, e.g. by conserving natural resources, using less artificial fertilizer and pesticides and avoiding waste. They also receive training on how to preserve protected forest areas and thus biodiversity. The UTZ organization joined forces with the Rainforest Alliance in 2018 and is now part of the Rainforest Alliance. Together, the aim is to create a better future for people and nature. Since the merger, the UTZ certification program and the Rainforest Alliance Certified program have run in parallel. At the same time, the new Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard was developed, building on the strengths of both organizations and decades of shared experience. With the launch of the Rainforest Alliance Certification Program 2020 in July 2020 and the introduction of the new Rainforest Alliance seal in September of the same year, the UTZ certification program and its associated label will be phased out. For this reason, you will see the Rainforest Alliance certification seal on more and more products. Just like the UTZ label, the Rainforest Alliance label stands for farmers and companies that are taking steps towards a world where people and nature thrive together. We are aware of the allegations in connection with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We would like to refer you to a corresponding fact check by correctiv.org: https://correctiv.org/faktencheck/2023/07/28/rainforest-alliance-nein-das-logo-mit-dem-frosch-hat-nichts-mit-bill-gates-oder-einer-impfung-zu-tun/ Best regards, Marc

Hello Is the audit status of an organization not valid until a more recent audit is available? And it is obviously known that this organization was not built ethically compliant. The "complicated" overview of the website of this organization is also questionable - it is unfortunately difficult to get a simple information picture. This organization also receives criticism on wiki and, according to television reports, has already been exposed as a "green lie" in the past.
The label also has a reputation as a "green-wash label" - there is no need to explain this term. The link you provide leads to a fact-check article - how (in)dependently they research/inform remains in question. The fact is that, for example, the donation amount(s) stated in the report are not true. The constant denial/justification with regard to the claim that vaccines could be included is also striking. Other harmful ingredients such as heavy metals etc. are also possible, aren't they? The question remains: if something is so healthy and ethical, why is it not being promoted? Yours sincerely

The fact checker. A word with a new meaning. The truth indicator for society as a whole. The fact that Mr. Gates also has a hand in this is displeasing. Apparently other citizens share the skepticism towards the label, because today when I went shopping, the rack of organic and Fairtrade bananas was completely sold out. The Frosch banana rack, however, was almost completely full. I pointed this out to the man at the checkout.
