Quantity Over Quality

Quantität statt Qualität

Compared to previous years, I no longer go to Migros every week to do my big grocery shop. I buy a lot of organic products, and the freshness and quality have been steadily declining. Then there were more and more shrink-wrapped multipacks (e.g., farmhouse ham) added to the selection if you wanted to take advantage of special offers. So nothing left for smaller households.

I also seem to be attracting lower and lower quality products:

bread flour that suddenly no longer had the same texture and, when used in dough (I tried it three times with the same batch), turned out like the dough for Spitzbuben cookies; lasagna that tasted like spoiled, gray cheese; organic whole milk that smelled and tasted like a chemical additive (like cleaning fluid); traditional Spitzbuben cookies whose centers weren’t filled and were pressed together at an angle.

On top of that, there are the pans that were so highly praised in the Migros newspaper and are supposedly on sale right now—pans that are extremely hard to find in Switzerland 😒.

I’m so sick of taking chances on these experiments, and I’ll be visiting Migros even less often from now on!
