Palm oil

Palmöl

Palm oil is and always has been a big problem for me when shopping, because I want to support the rainforest, not destroy it. Unfortunately, it is labeled so small that you ALWAYS miss it.
With this article I would like to call for palm oil to be either abolished or declared in large letters on the product. Why is palm oil so bad? As the name suggests, palm oil is obtained from palm trees.
What does the rainforest have to do with it, some people are probably asking themselves, quite simply, in order to gain more space, the companies cut down the rainforest, in the process thousands of animals lose their habitat, baby chimpanzees lose their mothers, adult chimpanzees come onto the plantations and are immediately shot dead, in the worst case only half dead, there are estimated to be only 100 animals left of the Sumatran tiger, there is no more room for the jaguar to hunt, the anteater, because it dies due to fires, for example. The anteater is dying because of fires to clear the area for plantations. And other animals, such as the lowland tapir, the African forest elephant, the Sumatran elephant, the lowland gorilla, the okapi, the Borneo pygmy elephants... and so it goes on and on. It is estimated that an area the size of a football pitch is deforested every six seconds, which equates to about 10 football pitches in one minute.
Furthermore, palm oil is not only harmful to animals, but also to us. Modern studies show that it affects blood lipid levels and thus increases the heart and blood circulation, which can then trigger diabetes more quickly. In addition, palm oil also leads to social conflicts, illegal deforestation and the displacement of populations.

However, palm oil can also be replaced by rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, olive oil or coconut oil as an alternative, and I have long wondered why this has not been done.
Help to curb the palm oil process a little, everyone helps, even if you use a product with palm oil from time to time, so perhaps next time you go shopping you will make sure to use a little less.
Perhaps my article has given you a little insight into the palm oil industry and I would be delighted if you would help me to get rid of palm oil or declare it on products.
