Rethinking How Rice Packages Are Opened

Öffnung von Reisverpackung überdenken

Recently, I wanted to cook something Asian again. After a long stretch of eating noodles, rice was my first choice.

I found what I was looking for at Migros. Your store brand, I assume, offers decent rice at affordable prices.

However, I was horrified to discover that the perforated fold-out opening for portioning the product doesn’t work as intended. When you tilt the box, all the rice gets stuck; this clogs the opening and causes me frustration.

So I had to widen the angle of the opening instead of tearing it open as intended, which led to a bit of a mess. The fact that my rice cooker was also broken that evening isn’t really relevant, but it certainly added fuel to the fire of my frustration.

In any case, I’m surprised that this opening method wasn’t tested more thoroughly during pre-production. After all, this problem could be solved relatively easily by adjusting the angle or the perforation.

In addition, a small window for checking the amount, like on competing products, would be desirable.

Until then, I’ll stick with pasta again.

Thank you very much
