After 30 years of using the Migros bag for 30 centimes, I have noticed that the bag has torn a few times in the last few months when I have been filling or carrying it. Have other customers also noticed this? Has the quality deteriorated? Unfortunately, the product is not listed on Migipedia.
I usually have a bag with me, but it happened to me twice in a row. Paper bag ripped on the way, not the bag but the handle.
I also have the feeling that the quality of these paper carrier bags has deteriorated. They don't last as long as they used to and tear much faster. I no longer buy them; I have found better bags (not made of paper) from the competition.
I can confirm that since the switch to recycled paper, these have become massively less stable 😕 The old ones, which you couldn't put in the paper and cardboard collection, felt like you could use them as knight's armor - they were so sturdy...
Hello synekaber, thank you for your contribution. There has been no change to the bags since 2019. At that time, we switched the bags to recycled paper. The paper carrier bag made of brown recycled paper achieved the best laboratory values in the tests for tear resistance. If the bags get wet, the risk of tearing is slightly higher than with the predecessors made of classic paper, which had an additional coating to protect against moisture. However, it can of course always happen that a bag is defective with such a high production volume. In such a case, you are welcome to exchange the product. Perhaps you could try one of our reusable bags as an alternative? Best regards, Chloe
