Hello ruediboppart, 2021 was one of the most challenging years for the potato industry compared to previous years. The extreme rain and hailstorms, especially in June and July, led to flooding in some areas and severely damaged the plots. As a result of the severe storms, we suffered a total crop loss of 30 % for Swiss potatoes. In the case of organic potatoes, this figure is as high as 50%. As a result, we have to switch to imported potatoes at an early stage in order to ensure a full supply for our customers. Migros' policy is to always source its products from the closest possible geographical region. This means that if a product from Switzerland is in season and the local cultivation provides sufficient goods of good quality, then domestic goods have priority. It is not for nothing that Migros is an important partner of Swiss agriculture. We make every effort to help market the entire domestic production.
