Coop, Lidl, Aldi all have potatoes from Switzerland. Migros from Egypt. Is this another McKinsey recommendation to make even more profit at the expense of Swiss farmers? One more reason to buy even less from Migros!

I wrote that Swiss potatoes are available at Coop, Lidl and Aldi. So I buy them there as well as everything else I need.
For what feels like 10 years or more, the transition from stock to the new harvest has always involved foreign produce. It's always the same at Aldi, lidl, migros, denner, coop, edeka, rewe, kaufland... It's up to each person to decide whether they want to buy potatoes. What does that have to do with McKinsey...
Hello Frenchman, thank you for your post. Our policy is to always source a product from the geographically closest destination. Of course, availability and the high quality and product safety we demand must be guaranteed. If a product is in season in Switzerland and there is sufficient local produce available, we source our products from within the country. It is not for nothing that Migros is an important partner of Swiss agriculture. In a normal harvest year, we have a good to very good supply of domestic stock from the previous year until around April/May. From then on, we import the required quantities from Egypt and European countries such as Cyprus and Spain. In spring, there is also customer demand for fresh potatoes. We expect the first Swiss early potatoes this year around the beginning of June. Kind regards, Angela
