A week ago I bought two 'Frisch/Handgemacht (IP Suisse - 180g)' (fresh/handmade) Gritti buns and discovered, by accidentally reading the ingredients, that they contain palm fat. Why do we need palm fat in bread that is eaten quickly? Above all, I also ask because palm fat/palm oil is very controversial, as it is not grown sustainably and is severely altering nature in Asian countries through deforestation and monoculture!
When Migros writes something about sensory properties and taste, it's just window dressing. It's cheap. Oh, and it's not that bad, they often say. They have to, even though it has long been criticized that "green palm oil" is not controlled at all. And Migros admitted in a statement when this was uncovered that they also have no control over where exactly the green palm oil comes from. But the main thing is the green label, so I bought a cookie from the competition without palm oil and it was delicious.
That's not true... migros left the palm fat out of the Farmer, and you all complained that the bars tasted different...

The palm fat is only part of the recipe for Grittibänzen with sugar crystals: the declared palm fat comes from the sugar crystals that we sprinkle on the Grittibänzen. Palm fat is used here for technological reasons to coat the sugar so that it does not melt. Regarding the sustainability of palm oil, we can tell you that we only use certified palm oil. Hello Chloe, thank you for your reply. I still have a small comment though. The Grittibänz were natural, so they didn't have sugar on top because we don't necessarily like it. However, we did have a Grittibänz with a rod. Perhaps Migros put all the Grittibänz in the same packaging? LG :)
