Gelling sugar only in summer

There was no jam sugar at this time last year either.
When does the preserving season start at Migros?
We have rhubarb and strawberries now, and in late fall we’ll have apples and figs for jam.
When I asked a saleswoman, she actually told me that you don’t need jam sugar until July.
Do we really have to stockpile it just because we have to wait until July every year?
Migros puts all sorts of new things on the shelves, but they take the jam sugar off them.
