Hello, dear Migros, I’m one of your kids—though I’ve grown up to be a grandma now, I’m still a loyal customer.
Recently, “Exquisito Kafi” has been released in new packaging. Sorry, but the design is an eyesore—it might be suitable for hygiene products, but for coffee....??? In my opinion, when you look at a package of coffee, you should practically be able to smell its contents, and you shouldn’t have to “figure out” whether the “four” (even numbers don’t look very appealing) brown “things” pictured are “goat beans” or, at best, coffee beans.
My main annoyance, however, is that the new packaging can no longer be opened by hand—it has to be cut open (very deep, see picture) to grind the coffee beans in the grinder (at the Zofingen branch… I don’t have my own coffee grinder). Pre-ground coffee isn’t an option; Bialetti requires a finer grind. On the one hand, the material of the new packaging is very “stubborn” and is almost impossible to fit over the grinder’s spout; on the other hand, the cut-open bag simply becomes too small to properly catch the ground coffee and seal it shut for transport home. Result: spilled coffee and a mess. By the way, Chicco d’Oro gets it right—their packaging opens easily by hand (without tearing)—but I just really like the Exquisito… (especially when it’s on sale ;)
What’s next?
