We stood in front of the refrigerated shelf with the cakes and desserts for almost 10 minutes but then left without a dessert because we couldn't find a single one that didn't contain palm oil. May I ask why Migros is so backward here? The chocolate shelf, for example, is just as good. There is hardly a chocolate bar that contains palm oil and there is also a logo on the packaging that shows at first glance that there is no palm oil in it. That's a good solution, but when it comes to desserts, you have a lot of room for improvement... If you can't do without this palm oil crap for cost reasons, for example, then please label products WITHOUT palm oil. Thank you and have a nice day.

Hello missy_89, thank you for your question. We use vegetable margarine, which contains palm oil as well as rapeseed oil, to make various desserts. As we only use non-hydrogenated vegetable fats where possible, many desserts contain non-hydrogenated palm oil. Unlike other vegetable oils, palm oil is solid at room temperature, which is an important technological property. In various projects, we are looking into the possibility of replacing palm oil with other vegetable oils. It is often necessary to use palm oil for technological reasons: Due to its specific properties in terms of sensory properties, functionality and consistency, palm oil is particularly suitable for the production of foodstuffs and cannot be easily replaced by other edible oils. The heat and oxidation stability of palm oil is necessary for many food production processes. When using palm oil, we also ensure that sustainable cultivation is supported. You complain that you haven't found a single dessert without palm oil, but you want those that do NOT contain palm oil to be labeled. Wouldn't it have been easier for you in the store if the desserts WITH palm oil had been labeled? Then you wouldn't have had to spend ten minutes laboriously reading all the ingredient lists only to realize that you don't want to buy any because they all contain palm oil.
I think Migros would never write "negative properties" or at least those that could trigger something negative on the product. Or you simply have to redesign fewer products, if only 1/100 of the products had no palm oil, it would be changed quickly😁 But I often see a "without palm oil" note in other stores, it's practical.
Basically, I see it the same way as you do. But the question came up because you spent ten minutes reading through the list of ingredients of each product and found that there was NOT A SINGLE dessert WITHOUT palm oil. So it seems illogical to me to ask for a label that doesn't exist for the desserts you're looking for anyway. And Migros thinks palm oil is good, as you can see from their answer. It would probably be best to introduce a general label - similar to the M-Check and the NutriScore traffic light: WITH PALM OIL (red) and WITHOUT PALM OIL (green). But my question wasn't really addressed to you or Migros anyway, but to the person who opened the discussion (I've forgotten her name and don't see it here, sorry).
