Hi Jeanne77, thank you very much for your question. We have consulted with the relevant office and have the following information for you: the food industry relies on palm oil because palm oil is in a solid state already at room temperature and therefore does not have to be hardened. This is an advantage in production, because undesirable trans fatty acids can form in the event of incomplete hydrogenation. By combining palm oil with these other oils, it is possible to produce, for example, a margarine spread. Without a certain small percentage of saturated fatty acids, the margarine would be liquid. If you replace palm oil with other vegetable oils or fats, you make a decisive impact not only on the consistency, but also on the preservation and "palate feel" of a product. V-Love margarine contains no palm oil, but fully hydrogenated canola oil: https://www.migros.ch/en/product/204470100000. We hope you find this information useful. Kind regards, Lea

But couldn't coconut butter be put in? However not every branch has V-Love margarine, since they can produce it why not replace palm oil which is practically banned everywhere? However only 1 product out of 10???

Hi Jeanne77, thank you for your message. We also have a margarine with coconut under the brand name "V-Love" (https://www.migros.ch/en/product/204470000000). If the two items are not available at your branch, we suggest you check online for availability at other nearby branches. You can also order these products on Migros Online, in case you order your groceries online. From a health perspective, coconut fat has no advantages over palm fat. Palm fat is better in terms of flavor, technology and sustainability. That is why it is the preferred fat for margarine production. Best regards, Lea
