Couldn't this tape be made of paper/cardboard and possibly with a little string (or without)? Now that we have declared war on plastic everywhere, organic products in particular must be provided with it!

Hello wuestenkind1058, we are required by law to clearly separate organic products from conventionally produced items at all times. Just labeling the display is not enough. That's why Migros deliberately sells most of its organic range in packaged form. We also focus on product protection and hygiene. Some customers check the goods by touching them and then put them back. For this reason, we are still forced to pack certain items. If we were to pack the conventionally manufactured products instead of the organic items, this would require a lot more material. The conventional range in the fruit and vegetable department is still larger due to the purchasing decisions of our customers. Migros is making great efforts to optimize its packaging and reduce packaging material. The first priority is always to protect the product sufficiently. Avoiding minimal food waste is a top priority. 45% of food waste is generated in households. For example, an unpackaged cucumber can no longer be sold after a few days - but 1.5 grams of packaging will keep it fresh for two weeks.
