I've just come back from a Santa shopping trip to the store. It has a large selection of many different things on offer. But unfortunately, in this day and age, there are still no chocolates in black chocolate. Everything is offered in milk chocolate, nothing in black chocolate.
It would be very desirable if there were also a selection of such things in hot chocolate.

Somehow I can't find any chocolate (especially milk-free chocolate) that is Fairtrade and organic. Or have I just overlooked them? The same goes for chocolate or cocoa powder. I think we Swiss should be able to afford to spend a few centimes more on the other side of the world to ensure that our enjoyment is based on livable conditions, don't you think? It seems to work with Coop too...

In our Christmas range, we don't actually stock any Fairtrade or organic black chocolate.
Instead, our chocolates - which are produced by Chocolat Frey - are UTZ certified. UTZ Certified(www.utzcertified.org) is an independent label that sets sustainable standards for cocoa, coffee and tea. The UTZ program ensures the traceability of cocoa and farmers receive a better price for their harvest. They are also obliged not to employ children on their plantations.
Accredited certification bodies regularly check that these standards are being met. The programme also supports other initiatives such as training farmers in agricultural practices (treatment of cocoa trees, minimized use of pesticides, etc.), education for children and young people and medical care. This not only addresses the problem of child labor, but also takes effective long-term steps to improve the living conditions of farmers.
If you don't necessarily need Christmas chocolate, I can recommend the following chocolates:
- Organic Fairtrade chocolate bar Crémant (art. no. 1001.305)
- Organic Fairtrade chocolate bar Cranberry Noir (Art. No. 1001.330)

Half a million children are still working in cocoa production in Africa. Even the world's largest chocolate manufacturer, Barry Callebaut, based in Switzerland, admits that child labor is still a problem. Industry programs have so far made too little difference.
